ALLIANCE -- The following students participated in the 22nd annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
Local students include: Brett Bell of Cambridge, Taylor DeLong of Pleasant City, Augusta Fisher of Mount Vernon, Madeline Fraley of Cambridge, Maria Johnson of New Concord, Jarrod Laslo of Mount Vernon, and Alexis Starr of Barnesville.
The MLK Day of Service is the largest community service event put on by the Regula Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement at the University of Mount Union. Over 500 volunteers participated this year. Volunteer locations included Alliance Community Pantry, Rodman Public Library, Alliance Area Domestic Violence Shelter, Danbury Senior Living, Hartville Thrift Shoppe, Beech Creek Botanical Garden and more in the Alliance area. Volunteers performed duties such as cleaning, painting, organizing and crafting.
