Craft show planned
There will be a Christmas Vendor and Craft Show on Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Elk's in Barnesville. It will begin a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with over 20 vendors, Chinese auction, 50/50, and food will be available. All proceeds to benefit The Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio. Hall of Fame applications sought
Applications for the Barnesville Hall of Fame will be accepted by the Foundation until Jan. 31, 2018. If you would like further information on nominating someone for the Hall of Fame, call the office or contact any Trustee/Officer. Information can also be found on the website, www.baefoundation.com.
Flu shot clinic planned
It is not too late for patients of any of the Ohio Hills Health Center’s to get a flu shot. Flu shots are available for $20. Medicare patients only need to show their Medicare card to receive the flu shot. Call 740-239-6447 to schedule an appointment.

Adult paint class planned
An adult paint class is set for Dec. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barnesville Library Annex. They will be painting a snowman winter scene which is taught by Dorothy Matusic. The cost is $25 and includes all supplies for a 16-inch by 20-inch canvas. Registration and fee need to be paid by Dec. 2 at the library circulation. They are accepting donations of non-perishable and easy to prepare food items for the Blessings In A Backpack program and The Haven which benefits Barnesville students in need. Mobile mammography van scheduled
The OSU Mobile Mammography Van will be at the Quaker City Family Health Center (located at 119 W. Main St., Quaker City) on Dec. 7 and at the Monroe Family Health Center (located at 37984 Airport Road, Woodsfield) on Dec. 19. Any woman age 40 years and older may schedule an appointment for a mammogram by calling 844-384-PINK (7465). Financial assistance is available thru the Breast and Cervical Grant Program (BCCP) or the Breast Health Connection Project. The mobile mammography van is funded by the Susan Koman Foundation through the OSU Cancer Center
Donation boxes for veterans in Barnesville
The American Legion Riders Post 168 will be placing boxes in local businesses and taking names of active troops serving in the military. All items must be nonperishable (cards, stamps, stationary, deodorant, cologne, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.).
If you have an active military family member and would like to give us their name or if you would like to donate, items can be dropped off at the Post Home of the American Legion Post 168, 317 E. South St., Barnesville; or contact Silas Tindall at 740-238-0396 or Molly Harris at 740-238-0058 for further information.
Walk-in clinics set
The Belmont County WIC Program will sponsor walk-in clinics the first Friday of each month. The hours are from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Bellaire WIC office is located int eh Chase Bank building on the fourth floor, room 402. New clients need to bring proof of address, proof of income, proof of pregnancy and photo identification for themselves. Crib cards will be accepted for newborns.
Clients needing recertified, need to bring photo identification, proof of income and proof address. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breastfeeding and provides nutrition education to its clients. Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, infants, and children up to the age of 5 years old qualify. Working families are encouraged to apply. For information, call 740-676-2232.
Photo contest set
Belmont SWCD is having a photo contest for our 2019 "Belmont County Old Barns" Calendar. The deadline for the contest is Aug. 10, 2018. If you have an old barn send us a picture or give us a call and we can come snap a photo for you, and have a chance for it to be showcased in our 2019 calendar! We are hoping to have photos from all the seasons, so get your fall pictures in now!
