Adult Book Discussion Group planned
On Election Day, Tuesday Nov. 7, the Adult Book Discussion Group of the Bethesda Public Library will have its annual bake sale beginning at 9 a.m. in the Bethesda Community Center, across from the Municipal building. Among items for carry out will be a variety of baked goods, plus homemade vegetable soup, sloppy joes, and hot chicken sandwiches. In addition, gently used books and videos will also be for sale. All proceeds benefit the Bethesda Public Library, a branch of the Belmont County District Library.

Open house and celebration planned for veterans
The Belmont County Military Veterans Museum, 101 E. Barrister St, Belmont, at the Belmont American Legion Post 312, will be having an open house and celebration for our veterans on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This celebration will honor those who have served our country.
They strive to educate future generations to know that the price of Freedom in Not Free. There is no admission fee but donated contributions are always welcome. Antique faire planned
The Olde Stark Antique Fair will be Saturday, Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Stark County Fairgrounds, Exhibition Building, 305 Wertz Ave., Canton. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m Saturday and Sunday from 10 .am. to 4 p.m. for this large indoor show featuring over 100 dealers and collectors. Nostalgic collectibles of every description from fine heirlooms to folk art await your perusal. Included are antique furniture, pottery, porcelain, crystal, clocks, quilts, linens, lamps, post cards, old toys, dolls, rustic primitives, period and Victorian, art deco, militaria, vintage clothing, jewelry, books and prints. The special show will feature many antique Christmas items as well as dolls and toys of the past.
A great way to meet the dealers, gain insight, befriend other collectors, find bargains and have a great day. Jean Piero will demonstrate the art of chair caning and Denny Potter will offer watch repair at his booth. Various vendors offer free appraisals. Admission is $5 per day (a two-day pass is $7), children under 12 admitted free. Early bird Saturday is at 7 a.m. and the cost is $7. There are acres of parking. Donation boxes for veterans in Barnesville
The American Legion Riders Post 168 will be placing boxes in local businesses and taking names of active troops serving in the military. All items must be nonperishable (cards, stamps, stationary, deodorant, cologne, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.).
If you have an active military family member and would like to give us their name or if you would like to donate, items can be dropped off at the Post Home of the American Legion Post 168, 317 E. Walk-in clinics set
The Belmont County WIC Program will sponsor walk-in clinics the first Friday of each month. The hours are from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Bellaire WIC office is located int eh Chase Bank building on the fourth floor, room 402. New clients need to bring proof of address, proof of income, proof of pregnancy and photo identification for themselves. Crib cards will be accepted for newborns.
Clients needing recertified, need to bring photo identification, proof of income and proof address. WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that encourages breastfeeding and provides nutrition education to its clients. Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, infants, and children up to the age of 5 years old qualify. Working families are encouraged to apply. For information, call 740-676-2232.
Photo contest set
Belmont SWCD is having a photo contest for our 2019 "Belmont County Old Barns" Calendar. The deadline for the contest is Aug. 10, 2018. If you have an old barn send us a picture or give us a call and we can come snap a photo for you, and have a chance for it to be showcased in our 2019 calendar! We are hoping to have photos from all the seasons, so get your fall pictures in now!
