BELMONT COUNTY - Weather permitting, Interstate 70 will have various nighttime, lane closures over the next couple of weeks at the $10.3 million Commons Mall Crossing project in St. Clairsville.

Starting next Monday, August 7th, ODOT's contractor, Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, will have lane reductions and 15 minute closures between 9 PM and 6 AM to set the structural steel for the new bridge over the interstate.

The current schedule includes:

Tuesday, August 8 15 minute, intermittent closures on I-70 eastbound

Wednesday, August 9 No closures are planned.

Thursday, August 10 15 minute, intermittent closures in both directions on I-70

Friday, August 11 I-70 westbound will be reduced to one lane at the three-lane split.

Additionally, the I-70 westbound on-ramp at Exit 216 will remain open but will be subjected to 15 minute intermittent closures on Thursday night, August 10th from 9 PM to 6 AM Friday morning, August 11th to set beams.

Reduced lanes are also planned for I-70 in both directions from 9 PM to 6 AM the week August 21st thru the 28th to set falsework.

Work began in March to construct a new connector roadway west of Mall Road, reconstruct a portion of the existing Mall Ring Road, and construct a new bridge over I-70 to the Commons Mall Crossing Road which connects to U.S. Route 40.

The completion date for this entire job intended to relieve congestion and improve safety at the Mall Road intersections as well as increase economic development opportunities in the area is set for October 31, 2018.
