QUAKER CITY -- A village man faces charges for the alleged sexual assault of a child.
According to Det. Lt. Jason Mackie of the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office, the 45-year-old was taken into custody Friday after making several admissions of guilt with during interviews with detectives.
A search warrant was obtained and executed Saturday at the man's residence. Investigators reportedly located and seized physical evidence at the scene.
In the house they located a large number of chickens, ducks and rabbits roaming free, Mackie said, adding that conditions were "deplorable."
An animal rescue agency based in Ravenna was summoned to remove the animals.
Officials with the Cambridge-Guernsey County Health Department condemned the house following inspections made during execution of the search warrant. The man remained in custody Saturdays in the Guernsey County jail. Officials have not released his name pending the filing of charges against him, which could include cruelty to animals.
"We will apprehend all criminals and investigate all crimes in Guernsey County," said Sheriff Jeff Paden. "Not just drug dealers."
