WHEELING -- Wound care specialist Dr. Judy Petersen has joined the staff at Wheeling Hospital's Center for Wound Care.

Petersen is a board-certified family physician and board-certified geriatrician with a special interest in wound care.

The Center for Wound Care at Wheeling Hospital has provided wound care services since January 1999. Patients are referred by physicians for chronic wound(s) that are not responding to current treatment. These wounds may be associated with diabetes; venous and or/arterial; complicated surgical wounds; pressure ulcers, and many other medical conditions.

Previously she worked as a wound care specialist at the Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Physicians Group and was an associate professor of family medicine. She received her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine; and performed her family practice residency and geriatrics fellowship at CAMC.

Petersen has participated in continuing medical education by attending the Symposium for Advance Wound Care, the largest international advanced wound care conference. In addition, she has attended the Global Conference for Diabetic Foot Care.
