The Village of Bethesda is planning a dedication of their new Veteran's Plaza on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29 which includes the re-erection of the town clock on the anniversary of its 100th year as a memorial to those who perished in World War I. Village Administrator Dirk Davis will conduct the dedication ceremony. Robert Murray, CEO of Murray American Energy, will be the keynote speaker for the occasion.

The day's activities will commence with a Memorial Service conducted by Post 90 of the Bethesda American Legion. The service will be held at the Veteran's Memorial in Ebenezer Cemetery at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Tim Synder will be the guest speaker there.

At 11 a.m. there will be a parade led by the Union Local High School band along with Parade Marshals Mr. and Mrs. Robert Murray. The parade will form on Virginia Street and proceed east on Maple Ave., then south on Main Street to the new Veteran's Plaza where a commemorative ceremony will be held by the Legion to honor those who served their country in time of need. Guest speaker for that ceremony will be Richard Lucas. The Village will then proceed with the dedication of the new Veterans Plaza.

Civic organizations, church groups, clubs, fire departments, e-squads and other interested parties are invited to participate in the parade. All entries are to assemble on Virginia Street between 10 and 10:30 a.m. and receive their assigned positions from the parade director.
