BARNESVILLE — A person of interest is reportedly in custody following a shooting incident Tuesday night on Franklin Street in Barnesville.
The name of the person of interest has not been released by Barnesville police.
Two people were reportedly transported to undisclosed hospitals via emergency medical helicopters following the alleged shootings. Neither the names nor the conditions of the victims were available as of press time.
Unconfirmed reports from the village indicated possible multiple shooting scenes.
Barnesville Police Chief David Norris has reportedly confirmed the shootings occurred at approximately 11 p.m. He identified the shooting scene as being on Franklin Street.
According to WTRF Channel 7 of Wheeling, W.Va., a Barnesville police officer heard gun shots and approached the scene on foot. An investigation was then launched along with another officer.
Initial reports indicated investigations were being conducted at multiple locations in the village.
The victims were transported by Barnesville EMS to the helicopter landing zone before being flown to hospitals.
Without the victim’s names, it was not possible to obtain updated conditions prior to press time.
A message left with the Barnesville Police Department seeking additional information had not been returned as of press time.
The shootings remained under investigation by Barnesville police.
