COLUMBUS Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor has announced the Ohio Department of Insurance will hold a series of free "Welcome to Medicare" presentations in April and May to help soon-to-be Medicare recipients learn about coverage options.

The events are scheduled as follows:

° April 10, 6 p.m.; Muskingum County Senior Center, 160 N. 4th Street, Zanesville

° April 12, 4 p.m.; Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center, 1022 Carlisle Avenue, Cambridge

° May 22, 6 p.m.; O'Neill Center, 333 4th Street, Marietta

Topics will include Medicare Part A and B benefits, the Part D prescription drug benefit, Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare Advantage plans, financial assistance, and key deadlines.

"These events are a great resource for Ohioans who are seeking information about Medicare coverage," said Lt. Governor Taylor, also director of the Ohio Department of Insurance. "Future Medicare recipients will come away from these events better prepared to select coverage that best suits their budget and health care needs."

In 2016 the department was ranked #1 in the nation and saved Ohioans $28.8 million by assisting people in comparing and selecting appropriate plans and connecting individuals with financial assistance programs.
