ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Two men are facing drug-related charges following their arrest by Belmont County sheriff's deputies while traveling on Interstate 70 Thursday morning.
The men, identified only as Brett Mehaffey and Eric Banks, were reportedly in possession of a half-pound of marijuana and more than $3,000 in cash. The suspect's ages and addresses were not available as of press time.
Deputies were investigating a report of a reckless driver on I-70 when they stopped the vehicle driven by Mehaffey and Banks. The odor of marijuana was reportedly detected immediately by deputies who approached the vehicle.
Deputies reportedly searched both suspects and the vehicle where they found the marijuana and cash.
The sheriff's office credited a tip by vigilant Belmont County residents for leading to the arrests.
Mehaffey and Banks are facing drug trafficking and charges.
The vehicle was also seized by deputies.
The incident remained under investigation by the Belmont County Sheriff's Office.
