BELMONT -- A Belmont County teacher accused of inappropriate sexual conduct with a male student has been ordered not to have contact with the alleged victim or any students at Union Local High School.

Tiffany Cordes, 27, is facing one count of felony sexual battery for the alleged conduct with an 18-year-old student at an off-campus location.

The incident reportedly occurred in the male victim's truck while the pair was picking up materials to construct backdrops for the upcoming prom.

Belmont County Western Division Court Judge Eric Costine granted Cordes a personal recognizance bond during her arraignment hearing Thursday but not before ordered her not to have any intentional contact with the victim or Union Local High School students.

Cordes is currently on paid administrative leave.

The investigation that led to the felony charge against Cordes reportedly began after the mother of another Union Local student alerted authorities.

If convicted of the offense, Cordes faces a maximum of three years in prison, a $10,000 fine and classification as a sexual offender. Her teaching license would also be revoked by the State of Ohio.

Cordes is next scheduled to appear in court on March 7.
