ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The sudden closure of Woodbury Outfitters at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville has baffled employees and patrons who came to the business Tuesday morning expecting it be open for business.

The shelves at the business were cleared Sunday night as the owner, identified as Joe Miller, moved out suddenly. A Woodbury Outfitters also owned by Miller reportedly remained open in Coshocton.

The discovery was made by many employees and customers Tuesday morning as the store is normally closed on Mondays. Many employees reportedly arrived Tuesday morning expecting to go to work.

The owner has not offered an explanation, according to local media outlets.

Ohio Valley Mall officials said Woodbury Outfitters has a standing lease with the mall.

The store that sold gear for hunters, archers and gun enthusiasts opened in the former JoAnn Fabrics building in 2015.
