ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Ohio University Eastern will be holding an informational session about the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) for all area Ohio high school students and their parents on Tuesday, March 11 at 6pm in Shannon Hall.
The PSEO program at Ohio University Eastern gives qualified students the option of attending college classes at OUE during their junior and/or senior year of high school and earning both college and high school credit at the same time.
This informational event will provide specifics about the benefits, risks, requirements and the enrollment process for the PSEO program at OUE.
Jennifer Fox, who is currently a senior majoring in applied management at Ohio University Eastern, went through the high school option program during her junior and senior years at St. Clairsville High School.   “Choosing the PSEO at OUE was one of the best decisions that I have ever made,” said Fox.  “I had a seamless transition to college because the advisors and professors at OUE were so helpful to me with scheduling and coursework.”
Fox continued, “As a result, I earned nearly 80 Ohio University credits by the time I graduated from high school.  This amounted to a significant savings in time and money as the program was totally free and included full tuition and books.  Needless to say, I would recommend the PSEO program at OUE to anyone who wants to take the lead with their educational goals.”
In addition, the program provides students with the opportunity to take on more challenging academic situations.  “I became a stronger student because I was motivated to do well and prove myself at the college level,” said Fox.  “I learned how to prepare for class, organize assignments and give effective presentations.  Now, I am looking at attending graduate school in pursuit of an MBA.”
Kevin Chenoweth, the director of student services at Ohio University Eastern, is also a big believer in the program.  “The PSEO program is a great opportunity for high school students who are highly motivated to get a great start on their college education.  The credit earned is transferrable to any college or university and allows the student to explore possible college majors as well.  Also, the program is flexible as students have the option to take only one or two classes or go full time.  This is a fantastic opportunity for Ohio students!”
