Union Local High School’s Success Program introduced Zumba as an enrichment activity for the participants in the after school program. On Nov. 12th at 3:30 p.m.  Zumba will be open to the public for $5 a session. The second session will be on Nov. 19th at 3:30 p.m.
The Success Program is a federally funded 21st Century Grant program. The program offers hands on learning with an emphasis on credit recovery, intervention, technology, community service, enrichment and physical activities. The Success Program operates at two sites: Union Local High School and New Horizons Residential Treatment Facility.  The staff includes Site Coordinator Kelley Hanlon, Assistant Site Coordinators Carrie Fijalkowski and Donna Britton, Union Local teachers Terrie Gaston and Elyse Swallie and New Horizon teachers Stephanie Moeller and Chris Tomich.
The goal of the Success Program is to offer exciting ways to improve academic skills, participate in enrichment activities and encourage community service opportunities. We offer students and their families technology/computer training as well as GED assistance.
The program, which began in September of 2012, has made great strides in servicing the students at the high school and would like to encourage public participation in opportunities such as Zumba, GED, and college fairs.
Our program is always seeking volunteers, presenters, and/or donations to keep or program running strong. If you would like to help in any way, please contact Kelley Hanlon or Carrie Fijalkowski at 740-782-1181 in the programs office at the high school. The hours of operation are from 2:15-4:45 during regularly scheduled school days.
