Anna Frazier, Sarah Fijalkowski, and Cassie Seneff , representing the Union Local High School Junior State of America chapter, attended the Fall State 2012 Convention, Crafting a More Perfect Union: A Nation in Transitionon December 8th and 9th, 2012 in Cincinatti, Ohio. JSA Fall State conventions for high school students interested in politics and government are held in 10 cities across the country in November and December each year. The convention addressed the future of America through a series of debates and simulations and focused on challenges the country will face over the next few years and issues that will play a key role in the development of the nations policy. Student delegates engaged in debate and discussion designed to assess how the course of our nation might shift due to recent changes of elected leaders. At the convention, students voiced their opinions on topics that currently cause controversy and division throughout the country. Key topics included partisanship, health care, immigration, the economy, and a plethora of issues pertinent to students and Americans at large.
