Barnesville FFA had their annual spring awards banquet on May 8, 2012 with 185 members and guests in attendance. The banquet was held in the high school cafeteria with dinner being prepared by the Barnesville Culinary Arts Department.
Students were recognized for participating in career development event contests. Special recognition for contests went to Jessica Taylor for placing 3rd individual in the district soils contest, Dorothy leek for placing 4th individual in the district public speaking contest, Theresa Gallagher for placing 3rd in the Job Interview contest and the grasslands evaluation team for placing 9th at nationals.
Twenty members received recognition for completing a supervised agriculture experience project. Laura Winland and Kalee Temple were recognized for earning their American FFA Degree. Twenty-one members were recognized for maintaining a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Chapter leadership awards were given to Emma Castello, Vannessa Taylor, Paul Sheppard, Marrissa Burga, Ariel Bates, Tarrah Burkhart and Kortney Temple. Star Greenhand went to Steven Davis-Bess and the Honorary FFA Degree was presented to Mr Michael Allen, Graphic Arts teacher at BHS. Graduating seniors that were part of the 2011-2012 officer team were given a gift box as a token of appreciation. Graduating officers included: Sadie Reinacher, President; Kierstin Lucas, Treasurer; Olivia McBride, Sentinel; and Tarrah Burkhart, Historian. The 2012-2013 officer team was inducted and includes: Ariel Bates, President, Emily Gallaway, Vice President; Karlie Baker, Secretary; Marrissa Burga, Treasurer; Dorothy Leek, Student Advisor; Vanessa Taylor, Sentinel; and Brianna Goodhart, Reporter.
