The Beallsville High School Class of 2011 cordially invites family and friends to share in the excitement of commencement exercises on Sunday, May 29 at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Addresses will be presented by Taylor Myers, Beallsville High School Valedictorian; Antenea Kehayas, Beallsville High School Salutatorian, and Talma Gray, Beallsville High School/Swiss Hills Career Center Valedictorian.

Taylor Myers is the son of Charles and Deborah Myers of Beallsville. Taylor is the Valedictorian of Beallsville High School Class of 2011. He is graduating with both honor and merit, and as a member of the National Honor Society. Taylor has been class President all four years of high school, and is the President of the National Honor Society. Taylor was a four-year letterman and varsity captain in track, a three-year letterman and Varsity captain in football, and a two-year letterman in basketball, being Varsity captain both of those years. Taylor is a member of 4-H, serving as a Vice President twice, a news reporter, treasurer, safety officer, and qualifying twice for the state fair. He is a member of the Regional and State Destination Imagination Champion team, which has qualified for Global Competition. Taylor has been a member of the Debate team, winning the best speaker award twice, and has been a four-year Kiwanis Scholar and Academic Achiever. He was his class HOBY representative, Buckeye Boys State representative, and twice was an Americanism test winner. Taylor has won the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship award, been named a McDonald's scholar athlete, and was accepted to 25 colleges and universities. He has volunteered through Relay for Life, Coaches v. Cancer, Volley for a Cure, the Belmont County animal shelter, and the Prom Committee. Taylor was a seven-year employee to the Beallsville High School Athletic Department and was also crowned the 2011 Prom King. Taylor plans to attend Marietta College to study education and leadership with a goal of becoming a history teacher and head football coach.

Antenea Kehayas is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Kehayas of Beallsville and granddaughter of Mrs. Stanley Brandon. Antenea is the Salutatorian of Beallsville High School Class of 2011. She is graduating with honors and as a member of the National Honor Society. Other honors and awards include Girl's State representative, HOBY runner up, a three-year Voice of Democracy participant, a two-year Americanism test winner, Kiwanis Scholar, Regional Scholar, and she has earned 13 top of the class awards throughout her high school career. Antenea has been a member of the Student Council, Drama club, Choir, Debate Team, track, French horn band, Webpage staff, and has written as a school newspaper columnist. She has attended the Muskingum Youth Fest for three years. Antenea plans to attend West Liberty University and Crown University to become a medical missionary.

Talma Gray is the Daughter of Lew Gray Jr. and Lori Gray of Armstrong Mills. Talma is the Beallsville High School/Swiss Hills Career Center Valedictorian. She has taken part in the Conference committee of Youth Ministry, Swiss Hills Student Council and band. Talma has made first honors and the Directors Award in band. Talma plans to attend college to major in music education.

Also maintaining a 3.5 GPA and graduating with honors are Matthew Buffington, Jessica Campbell, William Groves, Evan Neiswanger, Alyssa Quilon, Stacia Secrest, Shawn Thompson, Sarah Truex and Anessa Wilson.

Matthew Buffington is the son of Julie Pauley and Sam Pauley of Beallsville. Matthew is graduating with both honor and merit. He has been a part of the Debate team, L.I.F.E. program, and Drama Club for three years. For two years he has been a member of band, choir, OVAC Band, and the Destination Imagination team, which has qualified for Global Competition this year and the state competition the past two years. Matthew has also participated in the Chess Club, Co-written the script for a school play, and written for the school newspaper. His honors include Boy's State representative, and OVAC Band representative. Matthew has taken all the college-preparatory science and math classes that Beallsville High School has to offer. He also held a part time job as a waiter/bus boy at the former Big Blue Café. Matthew plans to attend The Ohio State University to major in Biochemistry with a goal of becoming a Biochemist for a pharmaceutical company such as Johnson & Johnson.

Jessica Campbell is the daughter of Ray and Kris Campbell of Beallsville. Jessica is graduating with honors and as a member of the National Honor Society. Her other honors include being a four- year scholar athlete, Girl's State alternative, and a first honor roll students all four years. Jessica's activities include Secretary of the National Honor Society, OVAC Varsity Board Vice President (West Division), Fellowship of Christian Athletes Co-President, 4-H member, volleyball captain and 4 year participant, three year basketball participant, Webpage staff Co-President, and Earth Day participant. She has also been an active member of the Student Council and has at some point served as the President, Secretary, and Treasurer. As a freshman, Jessica was the Homecoming Attendant, and was on the Senior Homecoming Court along with being crowned the 2011 Prom Queen. Some of her extracurricular achievements include 2005 Ohio State Champion Pole Bender, 2005 4th place at the Ohio State Fair in Barrels, IBRA Youth Champion, IBRA Open Champion, IBRA 2nd place in Open Barrels, and the 2007 All American Quarter Horse Congress Reserve Champion. Jessica has served as a volunteer for Coaches v. Cancer, Blood Drives, Relay for Life, Outdoor classroom, talent shows, and Volley for a Cure. She has been an employee of the Athletic Department for four years, a fair worker, and is a horse show exhibitor every weekend along with being a Morristown Belmorr employee. Jessica has plans of attending Belmont Technical College to major in Civil Engineering and transfer to Akron University while continuing to barrel race.

Will Groves is the son of Jack and Sheila Groves of Beallsville. He is graduating with both honors and merit, and as a member of the National Honor Society. Will is a member of the East Sunsbury Baptist Church. He will be attending college for a degree in accounting and wishes to obtain a CPA degree.

Even Neiswanger is the son of Kevin and Donna Neiswanger of Beallsville. Evan is graduating with both honors and merit, and as a member of the National Honor Society. He is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Choir, and is a Scholar Athlete. Evan's achievements include being a 2 year letterman in golf and basketball, and a 3 year letterman in track, while also obtaining a 4.0 Academic Award. Evan plans to attend Wheeling Jesuit University to study international business with an emphasis in Spanish.

Alyssa Quilon is the daughter of Marcia and Jim Quilon of Beallsville. Alyssa is graduating with both honors and merit, and as a member of the National Honor Society. She has also been a member of the Drama Club, track, basketball, Choir, elementary teacher's aide, Relay for Life, Destination Imagination carnival, and the volleyball team. Alyssa has been on the 1st and 2nd honor roll at Beallsville, and is a volunteer at Oglebay. Alyssa plans to attend West Liberty University to study forensics.

Stacia Secrest is the daughter of Marvin and Misty Secrest of Beallsville. Stacia is graduating with honors and as a member of the National Honor Society. She has also been a member of Choir, Yearbook and Newspaper staff, Church Youth group, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, basketball, volleyball, and track. Stacia has been a member of the Destination Imagination team for ten years, has worked at the Beallsville Diner, and has worked as a babysitter. She has volunteered for the Relay for Life and local animal shelters. Stacia has plans to attend Ohio University Eastern to study Early Childhood Education and Special Education.

Shawn Thompson is the son of Natalie Thompson of Alledonia. Shawn is graduating with honors and as a member of the National Honor Society. He is also a member of the Destination Imagination team and the Debate team, and has scored a 30 on the ACT. Shawn has plans to attend The Ohio State University to study Astrophysics.

Sarah Truex is the daughter of Lawrence and Susie Truex of Beallsville. Sarah is graduating with both honors and merit, and as a member of the National Honor Society. She has also been a member of the Drama Club, Choir, New Castle Homemaker's Cake Walk, Relay for Life, Elementary fun day, D.I. square dance, D.I. carnival, Yearbook staff, and Newspaper staff. Sarah's awards include four years on the Honor Roll, Top of the Class awards in College Accounting and Economics, and school winner of the Americanism test. Sarah plans to attend Wheeling Jesuit University to major in Education.

Anessa Wilson is the daughter of Jeri and Brad Wilson of Jerusalem. Anessa is graduating with both honors and merit, and as a member of the National Honor Society. More achievements include Regional Scholars Conference representative, Top of the Class awards in AP English, Algebra II, Chemistry, Civics, and Marine Biology/Zoology, 1st place Voice of Democracy paper, U.S. Achievement Academy Yearbook Nominee for both Merit and Leadership, Talented and Gifted Student for Art and Mock Summit, Monroe County Beacon Academic Achiever, Principal's List and Honor Roll throughout high school, Presidential Scholar, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, Debate winner, Kiwanis Scholar, Youth in Excellence Award, 18th Masonic District Scholarship winner, and the Credit Union Scholarship winner. Anessa's activities include Choir, Drama Club, Earth Day volunteer, Athletic Department worker, car wash volunteer, Debate Team Captain, Library Assistant, Newspaper staff, Teacher assistant, Relay for Life volunteer, and the Yearbook staff. Anessa plans to attend college to study English Literature with the goal of a career in book publishing.

Graduation ceremonies will begin with the Beallsville High School Band, under the direction of Doug Maschue, playing the traditional Pomp and Circumstance. Class President, Taylor Myers, will offer the opening and welcome guests. Following the addresses by the valedictorians and salutatorian, several scholarships will be awarded. Principal Micah Fuchs will present the class for graduation. Ed Carleton and Teresa Gallagher, members of the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District Board of Education, will award the diplomas. After presentation of the diplomas, and singing of the Alma Mater, student council member Paige Atkinson will share her closing remarks and the band will play the Recessional as the graduates bid farewell to BHS.
