On Saturday, March 26, eight students from East Richland Christian School participated in the District 16 Science Fair held at Belmont Technical College. This is a four countywide event that included over 80 students from 12 participating schools.

The Belmont Technical President's Award, the overall best-of-show, top honor, was presented by Juan Dunlap, 10th grade. Juan also earned two additional awards, the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh Award in Chemistry and the Soybean Council Award.

Micaela Rockwell was the recipient of the District 16 Science Fair Overall Award in Excellence as well as the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh Award in Biochemistry and the Governor's Thomas Edison Award for a project in Agriculture & Food Technology.

Students receiving Superior ratings were, Micaela Rockwell, Senior; Juan Dunlap and Graham Hart, Sophomores; Alyssa Crowley, 8th grade; Grant Bruner, 7th grade; Sadie Lendon, 6th grade; and Raychel Costain, 5th grade. Receiving an Excellent award was Molly McKivitz, 6th grade.

In addition to the awards earned by Juan and Micaela, other students earned further awards presented by various sponsors as listed: Graham Hart, 10th grade, the M.J. Piccin and Associates Award in Physics. Alyssa Crowley, 8th grade, the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh Award in Medicine and Health. Grant Bruner, 7th grade, the M.J. Piccin and Associates Award in Engineering. Sadie Lendon, 6th grade, Top Sixth Grade Award of Excellence. Molly McKivitz, 6th grade, Top Sixth Grade Award of Excellence. Raychel Costain, 5th grade, earned two awards, the Belmont Technical College Award in Botany and the Top Fifth Grade Award of Excellence.

Micaela, Juan, Graham, Alyssa, Grant, Molly and Raychel have also qualified for the Ohio Science Days State Competition held in May in Columbus, Ohio.
