Last four month busy for Barnesville Area Education Foundation (BAEF)
The last four months have been a busy time for Barnesville Area Education Foundation.
Membership Chairperson Richard Marmie and his committee mailed 211 letters of invitation to become new voting members, recruiting John A. Jones, Class of 1957; Daniel Moore,Class of 1958 and Joe Thomas, Class of 1960
Raffle tickets were mailed in early July for a chance to win $400. The winner will be drawn at the Annual Meeting on Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the elementary school's conference room. Voting members planning on attending should RSVP (740) 425-3001 or e-mail:firstname.lastname@example.org.
Allison Guindon has received the Academic Excellence Scholarship and will be attending Haverford College located in Pennsylvania.
Three grants were approved for $1,000 each. Reading is Fundamental (RIF) literacy for Janice Milliken's Elementary class and Gail Koch's Middle School class. Barnesville High School teacher, Nick Saffield will be taking 40 students to the Nations Capital to gain knowledge of major events that occurred in our country's history.
Another grant was given to music teacher Donna Chaffee and physical education teacher Jana Crawford for $998 to purchase two new speakers for their plays throughout the year.
Denver J. Kaiser (deceased), was the new inductee to the Hall of Fame. Denver's long time friend Carl Boehm presented the family a scroll of accolades Denver had achieved during his lifetime at the Alumni Banquet July 11, 2009. A plaque will be placed on the Wall of Fame at the BHS
Teacher Recognition awards were presented at the staff meeting at the Barnesville School where the following teachers received $100 each. They are Deanna Murrin, Steve Fisher and Al Treherne.
The Skinner- Bailey Extra Mile award of $1,500 went to the educator of Humanities, Abigail Chew of Olney Friends School.
