At the recommendation of Superintendent Randy Lucas, a Building and Grounds Committee meeting was scheduled for Dec. 9 at 7:30 a.m. At the request of the treasurer, a Record's Committee meeting was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. prior to the next board of education meeting. The Record's Committee meeting is a yearly requirement.The board approved the following donations: $225 from the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival Committee to the Art Club; $200 from the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival Committee to the FFA; $390 from the Barnesville Bicentennial Committee to the music department; $50 from Irene Cowgill to the music department; $10 from the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival Committee to the preschool and $1,000 from the Barnesville Rotary Club to the middle school GATE-OMUN.The board approved the rate of $7.30 per hour (as a result of Ohio's Minimum Wage Law) for the following positions effective January 1, 2009: substitute aide, substitute cook, substitute custodian and substitute secretary.The board approved the following purchase orders: $8,995 to Dollamur Sports Services (to be paid by the Athletic Fund); $7,500 for legal services rendered by Pepple and Waggoner, Ltd. and $13,520.25 for educational services rendered by Belmont Harrison Juvenile District.Elijah Febrache and Roxanne Wilson were approved as substitute teachers for the 2008-2009 school year.Jody Gibbons was approved as substitute nurse for the school year.The board approved the senior class trip to New York City from March 12, 2009 through March 14, 2009.An academic tutor position post on November 6 was awarded to Mary Samuels at a rate of $20 per hour.
