BARNESVILLE - A good left-handed pitcher is often hard to find, but it appears West Liberty University has found one in western Belmont County.
Senior lefty Gaetan Sinisgalli will take his talents to the hilltop out Route 88 in West Virginia where he will continue his academic and athletic careers as a member of the West Liberty baseball team next season.
"Gaetan has had a great career for us," said Barnesville coach D.J. Butler. "He was forced to be the number one pitcher as a sophomore and pitched against every other teams top pitchers when we were a very young team and struggled at times.
"He has always been a competitor and someone who I knew was going to give us a great chance to win when he pitched," the Shamrocks' coach added.
Sinisgalli's career numbers (entering the weekend) included a record of 9-6-1. He has pitched 111 innings with 104 strikeouts and 48 walks, 69 runs allowed (50 earned) and a 3.15 earned-run average.
Last season, he received first team all-OVAC Class 3A and all-Eastern Ohio Baseball League and second team all-Eastern District Division III accolades.
Entering this weekend, his senior season totals including a 4-1-1 mound mark. He had 41 strikeouts and 14 walks with 13 runs allowed (10 earned) for a solid 2.00 earned-run average.
"He is a great young man and as much as we will miss him on the field," said Coach Butler, "we will miss him just as much off the field."
