The Lady Shamrocks suffered a 60-50 home court lose to back yard rival Union Local on Thursday, Jan. 31.
Union Local’s Corey Medley led all scorers with 16 points. She was joined by two other teammates with double-digit scores — Dallas Montag and Kayla Doty.
For Barnesville, Miranda Plumly was the leading scorer with 15 points, followed by Shaela Markovich with 12.
At half-time, both teams presented money they raised on behalf of Leukemia patients. The money was divided among 3Cs Cancer Support Group and two local families . Coach Jamie Carpenter said one of the families was that of a player whose mother is battling Leukemia and the other is a family who recently lost a member to the disease. Carpenter said the disease hit close to home this year. In addition to money donated by both teams, the Lady ‘Rocks also sold t-shirts to raise money.
