The 60th Ron Mauck OVAC Wrestling Tournament wrapped up on Saturday. Barnesville had two place-winners on Saturday, with Hobie Howiler claiming third place at 120 pounds and Austin Singleton taking seventh at 113.
Howiler won his third place bout over Braidon Knotts of Parkersburg South, 7-3, while Singleton beat Cambridge’s Wesleigh Lewis for seventh place with a hard-fought 1-0 decision.
“I was very pleased with how Hobie finished the match as he scored four points in the final 19 seconds,” said Barnesville coach Jayson Stephen, “and Austin was able to get a small measure of revenge tonight because he had lost twice to Lewis two years ago.”
Stephen also praised his team for its weekend of work.
“I though our young kids got a lot of valuable experience,” the Shamrock boss said. “Our veterans did a better job of advancing this year, too.”
