Lady ‘Rocks fall to Lady Zeps, 66-57

SARAHSVILLE — A fast start propelled the Shenandoah High Lady Zeps past the visiting Barnesville Lady Shamrocks by a 66-57 final score in non-league hardwood action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Zeps jumped in front by a 19-5 lead after the opening quarter of play to grab control early. The Lady ‘Rocks closed the gap with a 13-12 scoring edge in the second stanza to pull within 31-18 at the intermission, but Shenandoah held on for the win in the second half to improve to 11-6 on the season.

Junior Blake Hall led the Lady Zeps with 16 points while sophomore Ashlee Wukelich and junior Raechel Rossiter each tallied 12. Junior Taylor Arick added double figure support with 10 markers and sophomore Kaysey King chipped in with seven for the winners. Wukelich added a game-high 10 assists and picked off five steals for the Lady Zeps.

Barnesville (4-11) was paced by sophomore Lana Broomhall with 12 points, with freshman Shaela Markovich right behind with 11 and senior Lane Hanlon contributed 10. Just missing double figure scoring was freshman Sydney Ralston with nine.
