OUE men improve to 4-0 with win over OUZ

St. Clairsville — The Ohio University Eastern men hosted their neighbors, OU Zanesville Tuesday evening. The Green and White got out to a fast and held on to a 60-47 halftime lead. The second half was much of the same as each team traded baskets. Both teams played very generous defense allowing bucket after bucket as the Panthers won the game 119-98.

The Panthers were led by five double figure scorers. Leading the way for the Green and White was Marquez O’Neil’s 33 points and 13 rebounds. Devin Ward played an all around floor game scoring 23 points, grabbing five rebounds, dishing out five assists, and collecting three steals. Djhae Jackson poured in 20 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 steals. Shadyside product Nick Schuetz produced a double double as well scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. NaKwuan Phillips scored 13 points to finish out the double figure scorers for the Panthers. Others reaching the scoring column for the Green and White were D’Aundrea Anderson had 7, while Jordan Barbina and Matt Burke split 10 points evenly. With the win the Panthers improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Next up for OUE is a trip to OSU Newark next Tuesday night. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.

OUE gets back on the winning track at Muskingum

(New Concord, Ohio) After suffering their initial loss at OSU Newark Tuesday night, the Panthers headed up Interstate 70 to take on the Junior Varsity team at Muskingum University. The Green and White defeated the Muskies 93-82 behind another stellar performance by Marquez O’Neil who finished with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and four block shots.

The Panthers grabbed an early lead and led throughout a very fast paced game. O’Neil was aided by team mates Nick Schuetz who had finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Wheeling Park product, NaKwaun Phillips chipped in eight points and collected 11 rebounds, while Djhae Jackson finished with 10 points and six assists. The Panthers improved to 5-1 on the season and will travel to OSU Mansfield for a Sunday afternoon tilt. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
