ST. CLAIRSVILLE — In action on Wednesday night, the Ohio University Eastern men’s and women’s basketball teams celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday early with wins over visiting Kent State University Tuscarawas.
Ohio University Eastern point guard Alex Kuhn played a fine overall game to lead the Lady Panthers to a hard fought, wire to wire victory over Kent State Tuscarawas by a 58-47 final count. The sophomore recorded her first career triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Kelsey Holloway chipped in with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Jessica Hunkler (Barnesville) and Alexus Davis added eight points each.
Sheila Felton led the Lady Pioneers with 12 markers. OUE, which led 27-19 at the half, improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory.
In the men’s match-up, the Panthers had a feast as they ran past the visitors for an 88-58 victory.
The Panthers were lead in scoring by a pair Wheeling Park products, Marquez O’Neil and Djhae Jackson as they scored 26 and 23 points respectively. They were joined in double figures with NaKwuan Phillips pumping 15 and Devin Ward chipping in 11.
OUE controlled the boards with O’Neil grabbing 9 and Devin Ward snagging 7. With the win, the Panthers improved to (2-0) on the young season.
