Barnesville wins season opener

HANNIBAL -- Barnesville High took to the road on Monday night to open the new season and returned with a 12-5 victory over River High in a game shortened to six innings by darkness.

A big six-run rally in the sixth inning put the "Rocks in control to stay in picking up the season's first win.

Dylan MacMillan picked up the win in relief of starter Ian Wells for Barnesville (1-0), MacMillan finished with two strikeouts and five walks.

Leading the 'Rocks offense was Nate Wehr with four singles, two RBI while Zack Dornon ripped a triple and single. Auston Hannahs and MacMillan each chipped in with a pair of singles, while Preston Dornon stroked a double.

River was limited to just three hits, with a double from Brandon Price leading the way.
