The boys learned their fate Sunday as far as dates, times and opponents for upcoming sectional tournament warfare.
In the Division II Sectional at Zanesville High School, John Glenn (15-3) was awarded the No. 1 seed while New Philadelphia (12-6) edged rival Dover
(11-7) for the No. 2 seed.
Cambridge (9-9) received the No. 5 seed and is slated to take on No. 7 seed Claymont (10-9) in the tournament opener on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m., and the winner will take on No. 4 seed Maysville (11-7) on Monday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
John Glenn, meanwhile, will face No. 11 seed Morgan (1-17) on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m., with the winner to face No. 10 seed River View on Thursday, March 8 at 8 p.m.
In the Division II Sectional at Ohio University Eastern, St. Clairsville (16-2) claimed the No. 1 seed and East Liverpool (16-2) was the No. 2 seed.
Only Meadowbrook (1-17) will play here, with the Colts facing top-seeded St. Clairsville on Thursday, March 1 at 6 p.m.
In the Division III Sectional at Meadowbrook High School, Fort Frye (14-3) claimed the No. 1 seed and Buckeye Trail (14-5) was the No. 2 seed.
Both local teams will be in action Saturday, Feb. 25, with No. 3 seed Shenandoah (13-5) facing No. 5 seed Monroe Central (5-13) at 3 p.m. and
Buckeye Trail playing No. 6 seed Bellaire (3-15) at 7 p.m. Those two winners will meet Thursday, March 1 at 7 p.m. in the sectional co-finals.
In the Division III Sectional at Claymont, Coshocton received the No. 1 seed and Ridgewood was tabbed with the No. 2 seed.
Newcomerstown (3-15), the No. 7 seed, will open play against No. 3 seed Garaway on Monday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m., with the winner to play the Ridgewood-Union Local (6-12) winner on Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m.
In the Division IV Sectional at Union Local High School, Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans (14-2) took the No. 1 seed and Beallsville (17-1) received the No. 2 seed.
Barnesville (10-8), the No. 4 seed, will take on No. 7 seed Frontier (2-16) in a pigtail game on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. and the winner play No. 7 seed Shadyside (4-14) on Monday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m.
Caldwell (7-12) took the No. 5 seed and will face top-seeded Beallsville on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m., with the winner facing the winner of No. 3 seed River (13-5) vs. No. 6 seed Bridgeport (5-13) on Saturday, March 3 at 6 p.m.
In the Division IV Sectional at New Philadelphia High School, the top two seeds were unbeaten Hiland (17-0) and Malvern (15-3).
There are no teams from the local area in this sectional.
