Host Barnesville High wasted little time of grabbing control and never looked back in racing past Meadowbrook by a final score of 63-36 in boys’ hardwood action on Saturday night.
The ‘Rocks seized momentum for good with a dominating 21-5 advantage after the opening quarter of play, and then extended the lead out to 35-16 at the half-time break with a 14-11 scoring edge in the second period.
Barnesville put the verdict to rest in the second half, using a 28-20 advantage over the visiting Colts.
With the victory, the ‘Rocks improve to 10-7 on the season while Meadowbrook slips to a 1-16 mark.
Barnesville enjoyed a balanced scoring attack led by senior Preston Dornon with a game-high 12 points, while senior Ian Wells and junior Dylan
MacMillan each chipped in with 10. Junior Brandon Burkhart added eight points and senior Zack Dornon finished with seven.
Junior Cameron Summers led Meadowbrook with nine points, while junior Christian Kirkman contributed eight and senior Jorden Williams tallied six markers.
Barnesville enjoyed a 26-17 edge in the rebounding battle, with Preston Dornon hauling down 10 to lead the ŒRocks, and sophomore Jaye Jackson snared seven to pace the Colts off the glass.
NEXT — Barnesville entertains Buckeye Trail on Tuesday, with JV action at 6 p.m. Meadowbrook’s next game is Friday at Claymont, with the reserves starting at 6.
