Barnesville High pushed its record above the .500 mark for the first time this season, rolling to a 64-41 road victory against Bridgeport on Tuesday.
Coach Chris Pack’s Shamrocks raced out to a 15-5 first quarter lead, and then picked it up offensively in the second period with a 21-14 surge to open a 36-19 halftime advantage.
Barnesville then scored the first 12 points of the third quarter and finished with a 16-6 edge in the round to lead 52-25 heading to the final frame.
“We jumped on them early even though we missed six or seven good looks in the first quarter,” said Pack. “We were chompin’ at the bit to put it on them, and we were probably too overly excited at the start.
“We started clicking offensively in second quarter and making shots, and we cleaned up with stick-backs when we missed,” he continued. “We challenged them to play better defense in third quarter ran off first 12 points before they scored.”
