MORRISTOWN -- A car cruise-in, live music, food and fun is on the schedule when the village of Morristown hosts the 2017 National Pike Wagon Train on Saturday and Sunday, June 3-4, 2017.
The Wagon Train, sponsored by the Belmont County Tourism Council, is welcomed every year in the National Road community for an overnight visit. This year, the wagons and outriders will arrive around 5 p.m. on June 3, stopping first at The Pike 40 Restaurant on the outskirts of Morristown before traveling on to the Black Horse Inn where the teams will be unhitched and camp for the night. A home-cooked meal will be served to the wagon train participants by local residents.
All are welcome to come out to see the horses and wagons, meet the participants, and enjoy live music by Deep Down Country Band on the Black Horse Inn lawn from 7 to 10 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy music under the stars.
Horses and wagons will be replaced by classic cars and trucks when the Egypt Valley Car Club hosts a Cruise in on Morristown's Main Street Sunday, June 4th from 12 noon until 4 p.m. The first 50 cars to show up will receive a dash plaque and all car owners will be entered to win a variety of door prizes. There is no fee to participate and vehicles of all makes and models are wanted. For more information about the cruise-in, call Gary at 740-758-5012 or Gordon at 740-359-4425.
Morristown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as one of the best preserved examples of a National Pike town. It was most recently recognized in the December 2016 issue of Old House Journal. The National Pike Wagon Train activities are coordinated in Morristown by the Morristown Preservation Association.
