Unveiling of a historical marker at the site of the former Society of Friends Richland Meetinghouse northeast of Eldon, also called Spencer's Station, will take place Sunday afternoon, May 28. The marker will commemorate the settlement, development and history of the Society of Friends in eastern Ohio.
The marker will become part of the official Ohio State Historical Marker program of Ohio History Connection, formerly Ohio Historical Society. Sponsor of the marker is the Stillwater Monthly Meeting of Friends (Barnesville) with support of Ernest Hartley and Susan Fredericks. The dedication ceremony will get underway at 2 p.m. at the Richland burial ground located on Shannon Road, just north of SR 265 between Quaker City and Barnesville.
