Using two decommissioned school buses, the Barnesville Exempted Village School District and the Barnesville Fire and EMS departments invited along with fire and EMS departments from Bethesda, Belmont, Fairview and Quaker City participated in a mock school bus crash to practice extrication and other life-saving techniques. Fifteen children ages seven and older, including members of the Barnesville High School football team, participated as victims at an empty lot near the Watt Center that was the former location of the United Dairy building. BEVSD Transportation Director John Blattler and Barnesville Assistant Fire Chief and EMS Coordinator Tim Hall worked together to coordinate the mock crash and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency approved the use of the two decommissioned buses no longer needed by the district after recently switching its fleet to propane powered buses.
