David Trouten, the newly elected Clerk of Courts for Belmont County released the report of his office's activities for January of 2017.
"Our office continues to provide a service to the courts and people of Belmont County," Trouten said, "But I could not have had such a smooth transition in office without the help and hard work of the staff of both offices." The Clerk of Courts administers all legal documents of the Common Pleas Court, including the calling of jurors for trials, and also administers the title department in the county.
"I especially want to thank my predecessor, Cindy McGee for giving me guidance and assistance as I came into office," Trouten added. "She has been a fine asset to this county, and I and my office can't thank her enough."
Trouten also stressed his concern over the confusion of the BMV in St. Clairsville closing in May.
"Many people have been confused about this," Trouten said. "The Clerk of Courts administers the Title Office, but the BMV is a separate entity. I want to assure the public that both the St. Clairsville and Bellaire Title Offices are still running as they always have been." Trouten further added that there are BMV offices in Bridgeport and Barnesville that continue to serve the public.
