Major excavation work is under way at the site of a “wet” gas cooling plant near Summerfield in Noble County. The new gas plant will process the liquids-rich gas coming from the Utica Shale development, then it reportedly will be transported by pipeline to a plant near Cadiz, where other elements in the gas — propane, butane, ethane, etc. — will be extracted and sold separately. A large amount of heavy equipment is on the reported 200-acre site, moving earth as shown here last week. The plant is being developed by MarkWest Energy Partners and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2013. According to earlier reports, Summerfield was selected because of its proximity to other company infrastructure, as well as transmission lines.
