Barnesville Fire Department fire fighters received assistance from two other fire departments to battle a morning blaze that destroyed a home on North Lincoln Avenue. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Barnesville, Bethesda and Somerton fire crews responded to the call at 8:33 a.m. at 316 Rear North Lincoln Ave. in Barnesville. Barnesville Fire Chief Bob Smith said that the house, owned by James Meager of Glencoe, was being renovated and the person doing the remodeling was staying there, but was not there at the time of the fire.

Smith said the cause of the fire was accidental and the State Fire Marshal investigated the scene Tuesday.

Crews were on scene Monday until 10:50 a.m.

Barnesville also assisted with a fire on Fair Avenue in Fairview on Saturday, joining crews from Quaker City and Antrim, due to a lack of water.

Several fires were reported throughout the Ohio Valley over the weekend.
