West Main Street fire keeps departments busy

Published:

A representative of the State Fire Marshal’s office was at an 808 W. Main St. residence Monday morning, investigating the source of two fires at a one-story frame home belonging to Sylvia Bland. Barnesville Fire Chief Robert Smith said the cause of the fires, the first call for which was received at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday and the second at 2:30 a.m. Monday, is believed to be electrical. He said the first fire originated in the hallway and the second in the ceiling. Smith said the occupants, Bland and her daughter, were not home at the time of the second fire.

Firefighters from Barnesville, Somerton and Bethesda responded to the scene both times. No injuries were reported.
