A standout on the football field for the Barnesville High Shamrocks the last four seasons, senior Jesse Stoudt will now do his work on the gridiron as a member of the Tiffin University football program.

Stoudt, who played linebacker as well as fullback for the ‘Rocks, is projected to hold down a linebacker slot for the Dragons of head coach Gary Goff.

Stoudt capped off his final season with Barnesville, by reeling in numerous postseason honors for his work at linebacker including being named second team all-Ohio, first team all-Ohio Valley Athletic Conference and first team all-Eastern District. Following his junior season, Stoudt was named honorable mention all-OVAC and as a sophomore was tabbed all-Eastern District and all-OVAC.

Stoudt played a vital role for the Barnesville football program, and will hard to replace for the Shamrocks according to coach Luke Johnson.

“Jesse played a important part of our success on both offense and defense,” Johnson said of his four-year letterman. “He was just an outstanding performer for us and we will miss him, that’s for sure.”

As for his future at the collegiate level at Tiffin, Johnson feels Stoudt will continue to excel on the football field.

“I feel Jesse will only get bigger and stronger at the next level,” Johnson said. “He’s already a real physical player and I’m confident he will be able to contribute to the Tiffin program.”

Stoudt posted some impressive career defensive statistics for the ‘Rocks, finishing with 317 tackles. 16 quarterback sacks, two interceptions and six fumble recoveries for Barnesville.

Last season Stoudt also enjoyed a solid season from his fullback slot on offense, finishing with 628 yards rushing on 106 attempts for a 6.7 yards per carry average with 11 touchdowns, and also hauled in 17 receptions for 248 yards with a pair of TD receptions.

Tiffin University is a Division II school. The Dragons are a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Goff enters his second season as head coach of the Dragons, going 1-10 in his first year.

Jesse is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Stoudt.
