Man killed in truck crash

Rick Stillion Special to The Enterprise Published:

A Caldwell man was killed Tuesday afternoon when the concrete truck he was driving southbound on Route 800 near Barnesville overturned after a blown tire caused him to lose control of the truck.

William A. “Bill” Kress, 55, of Fulda Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in Warren Township.

The accident occurred at approximately 1 p.m.

According to the St. Clairsville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the 2002 Mack concrete truck driven by Kress had loaded nine yards of concrete in Cambridge and was en route to a construction job on Township Road 203 in Belmont County when the accident occurred.

The patrol reported Kress was southbound when the left front steer tire blew out.

The truck went off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail and embankment, causing it to overturn.

The heavily-damaged truck came to rest on its roof.

The truck is owned by Shelly Materials/Smith Concrete of Marietta.

Arrangements for Kress are incomplete. His body was transported to Chandler Funeral Home in Caldwell.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The crash remained under investigation by the highway patrol.
