Woman accused of prostituting children

ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- A Harrison County woman is facing criminal charges for allegedly offering children for prostitution.

Robin Newell, 33, Cadiz, was charged with compelling prostitution and child endangerment. The ages of the victims have not been released by authorities investigating the alleged crimes.

According to reports, the incidents remained under investigation by the Belmont and Harrison County sheriff's offices and Harrison County Children Services.

Authorities declined to say what Newell received in compensation for sex with the children. Investigators said the children are now safe and no longer being subjected to prostitution.

The number of alleged offenses in Belmont County, Harrison County and possible other unidentified jurisdictions has not been released by authorities.

Newell was initially incarcerated in the Belmont County jail.

A corrections officer at the jail said Monday morning that Newell was no longer incarcerated at the facility.

No information regarding her bond was available and no additional details regarding the alleged offenses were available as of press time Monday.
