Hailing from Parma near Cleveland, Lisa M. Mokos, DMV, a recent graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, has joined the staff of Barnesville-Woodsfield Veterinary Services, LLC. Mokos received her undergraduate degree from Ohio State in biological engineering.
"I always wanted to live in a small town," said Mokos, who grew up in a suburban area with a love of horses.
Mokos specializes in large animals, but will also be caring for smaller ones too.
On the job for three weeks, Mokos said she has already had some unusual cases. On call to take care of horses, cows, goats and sheep, Mokos has the help and guidance of Joe Baker who has over 30 years of experience with large animals.
Her husband, who handles big contracts for a commercial construction company, has yet to make the move to Barnesville.
Mokos said Barnesville residents will often see her running with her two "large breed, rescued mutts", Caesar and Dozer.
She enjoys water skiing, canoeing and back packing. " I love doing pretty much anything I can do with my dogs," she said.
Mokos is a big advocate of adopting animals.
To contact her call Barnesville Veterinary Services at 425-2218.
