Beginning Monday, March 8, an extra hour has been added to the school day of Barnesville Exempted Village School District students to make up days missed due to inclement weather.
Morning bus times will remain the same. Ten minutes has been added at beginning of the school day and 45-50 minutes at the end, depending on the building. The extended days will continue through April 15, barring any more school cancellations.
Superintendent Randy Lucas said five make-up days have been added at the end of school year. March 12, previously scheduled as a waiver day, will now be used as a make up day. Students will also be attending school the Monday after Easter on April 5. Other additional days include Friday, May 21; Monday, May 25; Tuesday, May 25 and Wednesday, May 26 (the last day as of now.) Graduation for high school seniors remains unaffected.
The schedule was decided at a March 3 special meeting where school board members approved a Memorandum of Understanding between themselves and the Barnesville Education Association (BEA) regarding the making up of calamity days.
The board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Barnesville Association of Classified Employees (BACE) regarding the making up of calamity days.
