The American Board of Internal Medicine is pleased to announce the successful completion of its Certification Examination by Dr. Abhishek Shahi.  Board certification confers a standard of excellence in knowledge and practice to physicians who not only certify via the examination process, but who also work diligently on the maintenance of these skills.
Established in 1936, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) has worked to ensure the quality of our nation’s health care by certifying physicians who practice internal medicine.  Certification by the ABIM has meant that internists have demonstrated – to their peers and to the public – that they have the clinical judgment, skills and attitudes essential for the delivery of excellent patient care.  Consumers are able to check if their physician has the knowledge needed to deliver high quality care.  ABIM Board Certification is recognized as a marker of a physician’s professionalism, knowledge and skill.  Additionally, it has been associated with higher performance on a broad range of quality measures.
Dr. Shahi began his medical career by attending Kasturba Medical College at Manipal University, one of the Top 5 medical colleges in India.  Coming to Harvard Medical School, he did research on the biomarkers of acute kidney injury and completed a residency at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, Massachusetts Medical Society, and the Belmont County Medical Society.
