Hospice of Guernsey Inc. is a non-profit agency. The agency offers comfort care to persons as they near the end of life’s journey. A terminal illness can cause many reactions including: pain and discomfort, fear and loneliness, concern about family and friends, and anxiety about what lies ahead. Hospice tries to meet the patient’s needs- physical, emotional, social and spiritual---as well as the needs of the family. Hospice provides care in the home, in nursing facilities and independent living facilities. It is not possible for one person to meet all of these needs, so Hospice of Guernsey, Inc. uses a team approach. People with many different skills work together for the good of the patient and family. Services provided by hospice for patients include nursing services, medical social services, pastoral counseling, physical, occupational, speech, music and art therapy, dietary counseling, volunteer services and bereavement support. “A Special Kind of Caring” describes Hospice of Guernsey Inc. Hospice of Guernsey Inc. serves Guernsey and Noble counties and portions of Belmont County.
