Belmont SWCD planning two meeting series on timber management/marketing and wildlife food/habitat enhancement

Belmont SWCD, Monroe SWCD, and OSU Extension is inviting the public to two meeting series that will be held in Belmont County and Monroe County.

The first meeting will be held in Belmont County on March 7, 2013 from 1-4 p.m. on the Moore’s property at the intersection of Township Road 75 and County Road 92.

The meeting special guests will include Jeremy Scherf, ODNR Service Forester, Dave Apsley, OSU Extension Natural Resource Specialist, Dave Schott, Monroe SWCD Wildlife/Forestry Specialist, Jeff Bettinger, NRCS District Conservationist, and Jed Coldwell, Coldwell Timber Consulting, LLC, Steve Schumacher, OSU Extension Educator, and Liza Butler, Wildlife/Forestry Specialist.

This meeting will help you acknowledge the importance of managing your woodland and the techniques of fulfilling your future goals and objectives. The meeting topics will include: Forest Management Plans, Invasive Plants and Pests, Intro on Wildlife Enhancement, Timber Marketing, Operation and Management Plans, and Programs Available.

The second meeting will be held in Monroe County at the Roger Schumacher Farm on Township Road 95 Woodsfield, OH on April 11, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.

The meeting special guests will include Dave Apsley, OSU Extension Natural Resource Specialist, Dave Schott, Monroe SWCD Wildlife/Forestry Specialist, and Mark Landefeld, OSU Extension Educator.

This meeting will be more specific on enhancing wildlife food and habitat. The meeting topics will include: Wildlife Natural Food & Habitat Enhancement, Edge Cover, & Supplemental Plantings.
