Giant Pumpkin Parade Sept. 29

Published:

The 49th annual Barnesville Pumpkin Festival Giant Pumpkin Parade will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m., rain or shine. We invite any bands, businesses, horses, church groups, clubs or other organizations to participate in this popular annual event. No entry fee is required.

Pre-registration is preferred, but optional. Forms can be downloaded from our Web site at www.barnesvillpumpkinfestival.com or they may be picked up at the Barnesville Chamber of Commerce office, Belmont Dodge in Barnesville or the Barnesville Enterprise. All entrants not pre-registered should fill out a registration form and bring it with them the day of the parade to speed the check-in process.

Check-in will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 on Roosevelt Road off of East Main Street / State Route 147. Signs will be posted. Check-in will be open until 12:45 p.m. and all entries must be in place by 1 p.m. For everyone’s safety, traffic will be limited and one-way from 11 a.m. until parade time.

Winning entries will receive trophies in one of these categories: Float, Pumpkin, Group, Horse Drawn, Royalty, Horse/Rider(s), Unique, Tractor and Automobile. The decisions of the judges are final. Winners will be announced after the parade and trophies may be picked up at the Information Booth.

Due to liability issues and threat of injury; no material is to be thrown from your vehicle or float. You must provide walkers with your entry to distribute any and all candy, t-shirts, pamphlets, etc. to the crowd.

This policy is for the safety of all, as it will greatly reduce the need for both children and adults to run into the line of parade traffic. Please help us make our parade a safe and happy event by following this important safety policy.
