The final program of the 34th season of the SHOWCASE 2017 Concert Series in Barnesville is coming this Thursday, Aug. 3, with a 7 p.m. show at Community Arts Place by Pavlov Polka Pals of Cambridge. The duo, consisting of guitarist Dick Pavlov and accordionist Werner Ziemann, will do a polka and variety music program, mixing traditional European melodies with a modern electronic touch.

Both have many years of musical experience in their backgrounds. Pavlov played mandolin, string bass, classic guitar, and banjo in years gone by in groups such as square dance, folk, ragtime, Dixieland, etc. Accordionist Ziemann, was born in Berlin, Germany and came to the USA in 1946. He has played at numerous weddings, parties, and night clubs, in addition to touring Europe.

Steve "Easy" Whitacre of Barnesville will again be the featured poet in the concert booklets because several more pomes were still in the Community Arts archives that had been submitted in past years.

A food stand will be open. Those coming to the program should bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, events will be moved indoors to the Little Rocks Learning Center (former Grange Hall) on Shamrock Drive. Donations are appreciated. Convenient Food Mart will have drawing prizes for the evening.
