The fourth concert of the SHOWCASE 2017 Summer Series is set for 7 p.m., Thursday, July 20 at Community Arts Place in Barnesville. The program will be presented by classic oldies entertainers, Roz and Lynn of Dillonvale. Their show includes rock n' roll, doo-wop, country, love songs and a few polkas.
Their song list is a wonderful variety of music from the 50s to the 80s for people of all ages. Roz and her mother, Lynn inherited their love for music from Lynn's father, a local musician who played saxophone in polka bands throughout the Ohio Valley.
Social clubs, organizations and retirement communities always enjoy the classic oldies show. They also perform at fairs, festivals and outdoor concerts, as well as banquets, reunions, birthday parties, and anniversary celebrations.
A food stand will be open during the evening. There will be poetry in the printed concert programs. Those coming to the show should bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, events will be indoors at Little Rocks Learning Center (former Grange Hall) on Shamrock Drive. Donations are appreciated.
Last Thursday evening, a stellar performance was done by the New Silver Eagle Band, and it was held indoors because of threatening weather conditions. Featured poet in the program booklets was Steve "Easy" Whitacre.
Winners of watermelons, provided by the concert committee, were Maxine Mayhugh, Pat Osborn, andScott Whitacre, all of Barnesville. Nora Pittman of Jerusalem, Jerry Usenick of Belmont, and Dwain Gregg of Senecaville.
