Moving right along to program No. 3 in the series, SHOWCASE 2017 Summer Concerts, in its 34th season, will present a 7 p.m. show on Thursday, July 6 by the New Silver Eagle Band from Weirton, W.Va. They will perform a variety of music, including country, rock, and doo-wop songs. The group consists of six of Ohio Valley's best musicians and vocalists and has opened for several top national music stars. They have played at Wheeling Jamboree, many major fairs, and festivals.
Members of the band are Monte Sutton of Weirton, Bob Haglock of St. Clairsville, Russ Buchanan of Wellsburg, David Wilson of Steubenville, Jeff Tober of Windsor Heights, and Sara Saverko of Columbiana. They take requests from their audiences.
A food stand will be open during the evening. Those coming to the show should bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, the show will be indoors at the Little Rocks Learning Center (former Grange Hall) on Shamrock Drive. There will be poetry in the printed programs. Donations are appreciated.
The Almost Famous bluegrass program last Thursday was held outside under beautiful skies and a good crowd of people. Poetry of the late Daphne Stephania Vetula was featured in the concert booklets. At the conclusion of the evening, floral gifts, courtesy of Burkhart Nursery of Barnesville, were won by Charles Carpenter, Sandy Brown, Jimmy Hanlon, all of Barnesville; Gene Timbrook of Shadyside; and Jerry and Lova Ebbert of Bethesda.
