Kimberli Ann Vetula Adamson will be the featured poet for this Thursday's first program of the SHOWCASE 2017 Summer Concert Series, June 8 at 7 p.m. A bluegrass show by Joe Williams & Deep Water from Senecaville will be held at Community Arts Place on Colonel Drive in Barnesville.
Her poetry will be printed in the concert booklets for those in attendance to read and enjoy while the band sets up their equipment for the evening. This is the fifth year continuation of the Showcase Poets' Roll of Honor for reprints from the archives of Community Arts.
Adamson started creating poems at the age of four years old and would recite them for her mom to write on paper. Her mother is also a poet as was her grandfather. Her subject matter is often about her enjoyment of nature and animals. She is also an accomplished jeweler and antique specialist. She and her husband are residents of St. Clairsville.
Joe Williams & Deep Water is a four piece group that has been performing together since 2010. Members are Joe and Connie Williams along with Rich and Carol Smith who are two married couples and this configuration makes a convenient traveling situation and easy coordination of show scheduling and rehearsals.
This is the 34th year for the Showcase Summer Series. In case of rain, events will be moved indoors to the Little Rocks Learning Center (former Grange Hall). There will be a food stand open during the evening. Door prizes will be offered by Fruits of Life Greenhouses of Barnesville at the conclusion of the concert.
Those coming to the program should bring chairs for the evening if the program is outdoors. Donations are always appreciated.
